Ruth G. Malinas is chair of the firm's Appellate Section and has devoted her practice almost exclusively to appellate litigation. Mrs. Malinas has been board-certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law since 1993 and has handled close to 100 appeals and original proceedings in various Texas and federal appellate courts. In addition to appealing and defending final judgments, Mrs. Malinas provides appellate support during trial in complex cases, briefs and argues complex motions in the trial court, and handles mandamus proceedings. Substantively, her docket includes product liability, medical malpractice, general tort, and insurance coverage matters. Mrs. Malinas is licensed to practice in all state trial and appellate courts in Texas, the Federal District Courts for the Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
